VC Star and MySpace

The benefits that Myspace would provide to the VC Star would be tremendous. Myspace is filled with many young users who could help launch the VC Star to a high level. They would do so by providing feedback on what they feel is relevant to them (youth consumers) and how some of the content that is linked with the VC Star could be changed to help catch the attention of youth consumers. Myspace allows for bulletins and if the VC Star would put some of the more attention grabbing news or events on the Myspace bulletins it would help the VC Star in reaching out to new consumers both young and old. There are many ways Myspace could literally change the VC Star micro site but we really won't know until it happens.

Jakob Nielsen's Article

The Jazz site was one that could definitely use some work to grab the users attention. The content was not relevant in my eyes. For instance, the picture of the men was not very "catchable" in a sense it felt as if it was a promo for a Ballerina Show for women. The ideas provided by Nielsen were good and relevant to help catch the users attention.
The New York Times site is essentially like the VC Star homepage in that everything seems cluttered, at least that's what I got out of what Jakob was talking about. The site is just like a newspaper, it contains too much information with nothing catching about it.
The specialized site was one that was much more catching to the users eye but Nielsen stated otherwise. I think that making the site 3D is much more exciting than looking at an ordinary site and it helps to keep the user intrigued to the site.

VC STAR PAGE

Strengths- Lots of pictures with options, it has a lot of options that a viewer can choose from, allows you to view video clips, offers the latest news
Weaknesses- Too much content, everything looks cluttered, too much advertisement pages linked to the website.
Opportunities- Allows you to view different topics from the local news (sports, business, entertainment, etc.), you can view job openings, vehicle search, you can display an online ad along with a classified ad.
Threats- Potential for virus threats.

I have been tagging most of the sport web pages that I have found online. I have focused on sports because I am a big sports fan. Most of what I have focused on have been on the major sports in the US; such as, baseball, football, basketball and I added a Mixed Martial Arts web page as well. I have also included some college athletics in my bookmarking. I still need a few more entries to bookmark so it may become random after these last 13 entries that I have done. Startup.com

Startup.com was a great video that showed the different aspects of how a business is created, ran and most importantly how a business could fail. I enjoyed seeing the intensity that took place during the work meetings, especially the intensity that was shown when the business was starting up. The loss of a great friendship between the partners was something that was eye catching because it makes you think twice about starting up a business with a close friend or family member.

NextTown Logo!

The way I would create the Next Town logo would be to intertwine the N&T together to give it a simple but yet creative look. Also, I would try to make it 3D so that it can grab the viewer's attention. I would also try to incorporate a skyscraper somewhere in between the letters to give that business sense.
